Most major airlines have launched their Christmas/ January sales, and there are some great deals available. I’ve trawled through the mediocre ones and picked out some of the best sale fares available. There are some crackers in there – £386 to Los Angeles, anyone? – but availability dates vary by airline and destination. Check on the individual airline website for full details. Most of the sales run until mid-January (although a couple and on the 4th) – but here’s my destination by destination list of the best bargains, based on economy class return flights out of London.

Discount tickets from London and Manchester to Florida are available in peak season with Virgin Atlantic. Cheap fares for Orlando & Miami flights start at £399.
Virgin Atlantic has just launched a sale, and some bargain fares to the United States are available. These include some excellent deals on return flights to Virgin’s two destinations in Florida – Miami and Orlando.
Miami flights for £412
Economy class return flights to Miami from London Heathrow are on sale for as little as £412 between 25 December 2011 and 31 March 2012. That’s exceptional value for Florida’s peak season on a high quality airline.
Orlando flights for £400
The deals to Orlando for the same dates are even better. Economy class returns with Virgin Atlantic from London Gatwick start at £400, whilst fares from Manchester start at £399.
Chicago, Boston, LA & Washington special fares
Other fare deals available in the Virgin Atlantic sale include returns to Chicago for from £412, Boston from £382, Los Angeles from £458 and Washington from £412.

Every now and then a sale comes along and smashes all other competition out of the park. This is the case with the new Etihad sale, which is offering the cheapest prices I’ve ever seen to many destinations.
There are catches of course – all flights involve a change of plane in Abu Dhabi, they have to be booked by 04 November 2011, and flights must be taken between 05 November 2011 and 14 December 2011. But, if these hoops aren’t too tough to jump through, the offers are too good to turn down.

How to find the cheapest flight sale deals to the USA, Brazil, Thailand and South Africa via online travel agency Travelpack. Cut price economy class returns on offer.

Unfortunately, most of the current blitz of flight sales ended yesterday (September 21st). So where do you go to look for value? Well, perhaps one of the online travel agents that will have bought up tickets in bulk why they’re cheap and is selling them on later.
London to New York flight sale 2011
Travelpack is a good example. Go to the Travelpack site and you’ll find a host of good flight sale offers that are still available. For example, Delta flights from London Heathrow to New York JFK are on sale for from £371. This is for flights taken between 24 October and 16 December 2011, and bookings must be made by 26 September.
London to Johannesburg flight sale 2011
There are a few other good deals in the mix with 26 September booking deadlines. These include return flights from London Heathrow to Johannesburg in South Africa for from £479 and Heathrow to Orlando flights for from £396. Both of these deals are flying with Air France via Paris.
London to Bangkok flight sales 2011
Of the other offers, £479 from London to Bangkok with Royal Jordanian is pretty good, while £556 from London to Rio De Janeiro in Brazil with TAP isn’t half bad either.
