Alitalia
Alitalia special offers and route network strengths
As airlines go, Alitalia doesn’t exactly have the best reputation – numerous government bail outs have kept it afloat, but it’s a classic example of a legacy carrier that has struggled to adapt to the modern era. From the UK, flights arrive at either Rome Fiumicino airport or Milan Linate airport. From either of these airports you can connect through to the likes of Trieste, Cagliari, Catania and Verona – although in all honesty, you’ll probably be able to find direct flights cheaper with budget airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet.
Alitalia is slightly more useful when it comes to flights elsewhere in Europe that aren’t served brilliantly from the UK – Tirana in Albania and Belgrade in Serbia spring to mind here.
Connecting flights to South America with Alitalia are also worth looking at – you can fly to Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, Caracas in Venezuela and Buenos Aires in Argentina with the Italian airline.
There are also connecting flights to various destinations in North America and the Middle East, but these rarely represent either the quickest flight or the best deal.
